August 8, 2017 Tuesday
I slept well last night but I just couldn’t get back to sleep after about 5:00 this morning!! That was no fun. I got up and drove to Ringgold to have breakfast with some ladies and then watch as ladies delivered and received their quilts back from the Quilt Lady!! I had a pancake (a big one!), some bacon and sausage. I didn’t really enjoy the pancake – I don’t know if my taste buds have changed or what, but it was just very blah! I really did enjoy the time with the ladies and the quilts – I got to see some beautiful quilts today – there are some very talented ladies in this area.
This is the quilt I got back – it’s a Thimbleberries – and it’s my favorite type of quilt. I love making each individual block that is unique. I’ll enjoy this one.
I left the quilt lady group a little early because Paula, Sue and I planned to swim today, even if it were raining as long as there was no lightning. Why?? Because today was the first day of the new school year and as retired teachers, we LOVE this day!!! And we always try to celebrate on this day every year!! Luckily, the rain stopped and the sun came out. You can tell from the photo how crowded the pool was today!!
We were the ONLY ones there and it was wonderful. We spent about two hours in the water and I moved the entire time – sometimes I moved a lot trying to get lots of exercise. I could tell that I did get a lot of exercise during the time because my legs kept trying to cramp!! By the end of the two hours, I knew I was really worn out.
I went home and fixed a frozen pot pie for lunch. Then I sat down in my nice big chair and fell asleep!! I could not have stayed awake no matter what. I woke up about 30 minutes later, I think, and I felt better but I continued to be worn out for the rest of the day. I did almost nothing during the rest of the day and I was even too tired to fix much dinner. I did open a can of spinach and had that for dinner. I used to eat a lot of spinach but haven’t for a long time. This was good so I will try to eat spinach more often – I expect it is really good for me and it tastes good.
My tongue was mostly numb for much of the day and the tendency toward diarrhea was still a concern today, but that was it. No other problems.
I expect that I will sleep well tonight considering how worn out I am and I do plan to eat a couple more pickles and swig some pickle juice to keep the leg cramps away. I think I have not been exercising enough and have lost most of the good muscles I earned during all that walking in Italy, so I will consider walking the aisles in Lowe’s soon in an effort to build up some more muscle tone.
