August 15, 2017 Tuesday
I had a horrible night. I turned off my light about 1:30 knowing I wasn’t very sleepy – the steroid shot was really doing its thing. I know I was still awake at 3:00 but fell asleep sometime after that. About 4:00 I woke up with that knife cutting feeling in my throat. I got up and got a cough drop and it helped so I fell back asleep. I woke up again about 5:00 with the knife feeling again so I got another cough drop but I fell asleep before it was all gone. I woke up about three more times and rearranged that cough drop in my mouth each time and it helped with the pain. I finally got up about 9:00 and again sounded like a frog. My throat was still red and hurting.
I got my stuff together and took off for Roswell – it was a good trip down. I got to play with the grandkids a lot, Coen and I and Frank mowed the yard and trimmed some trees – I did my usual sit around and watch Frank work type of job again. It was a really nice day. Coen is talking all the time and making lots of sense. Zoë is getting so grown up sounding and acting – it’s amazing to watch them grow up.
I had no side effects from the chemo today and my only problem is the coughing that is really fairly bad. I am tired enough to sleep tonight, I think, but I’m worried that my coughing may keep me up a lot during the night. We shall see.
