August 16, 2017 Wednesday
I slept much better last night than the night before but I woke up several times coughing and having a very sore throat. I kept a cough drop in my mouth again, but this time inside a cheek. I felt like a hamster with it there, but whenever I woke up I could just move the cough drop around my mouth some and it would help with the sore throat and I could go back to sleep. I expect it’s not a very safe thing to do (cause I don’t want to choke on it) but it has worked well so far.
I had a wonderful day with the family – I certainly do enjoy my time in Roswell and not just because of the grand kids – Frank and Rachel are just nice to be around and I really enjoy being there. I also stay more active when I’m in Roswell and I feel that is really good for me. I did take a short nap both afternoons I was in Roswell so that helped me recover from the work I did, some at least.
I had no side effects from chemo but I had a lot of bad coughing and my throat is still quite sore at different times of the day. The PA at the oncologist said that only if I had a fever at the time of chemo would I have to delay the chemo treatment and I’m pretty sure I do not have a fever. I guess tomorrow’s visit with the doctor before the chemo will answer that question for sure.
Tomorrow is the beginning of the second half of the chemo treatments. So, half way done, unless this round of treatments do not do the job of killing the tumor. If that happens, I’ll begin another round of treatments with different chemo drugs. Hopefully, this first round will get it.
