October 10, 2017 Tuesday
I could not get to sleep last night so after a couple of hours of trying, I got up and took a swig of NyQuil. I know that’s not really a good thing to do but I needed to get to sleep. I was coughing some and that was not helping. After that, I slept very nicely. I did set an alarm for this morning so I could be sure to be with the quilt lady ladies on time and I got to hit that snooze button several times before I got up.
Then I had a nice breakfast and headed to Ringgold. Turns out that the people in charge of the building where we meet monthly did not arrive to open the building today so we met in the parking lot. That meant we couldn’t get out the quilts to admire since we didn’t want to take a chance on getting them dirty. I really missed admiring quilts. I got three small ones back and gave her two. Several of us did stand around and discuss important topics such as cute quilt patterns some of us have found and wedding plans for a farm wedding this weekend for the daughter of one of us, and habits of chickens that several of us own – you know, the things that are just important in real life. Go look at the quilt patterns of Laura Heines – check out the one entitled “My Kinda Town”. I really like that one and may have to get it. I’ll wait a while and see if I can live without it.
Then I left and headed for the courthouse in Dalton to get my tags for next year. That went well and then I headed to the mall theater to see the Kingsman movie. The preview looked pretty good but the bad language was just intrusive and the blood squirting scenes were just too graphic so those things took away from the movie. The cast was really interesting and I enjoyed Tatum Channing, John Strange and Elton John the most. It was an okay way to spend a couple of hours.
Then I headed home and decided to start putting the binding on the quilts I picked up today. I got the first step done on all three of them, but I decided to order some black thread for the part where the stitching will show. That means I won’t be able to work on them for a couple of weeks. Then I got out a large quilt that I had quilted a couple of months ago and started doing the binding on that one, but I’m not sure the binding I found is really the binding for that quilt, so I’ll look around some more tomorrow and decide what to do about that. Then I may make some more quilt blocks.
It was beginning to get late in the day and I decided I really should mow my yard – the rain encouraged the grass to pop up all of a sudden. I finished the front yard but only did about half of the back yard when I could no longer see what I was mowing. Mowing the back yard will have to be on tomorrow’s list as well. I love making lists and checking completed items off those lists.
I have been nicer to my innards today by eating less and there is no sign of trouble yet. Course, it could still happen but hopefully it won’t. My back is hurting again but that is certainly a nightly event.
